Bruschetta on Homemade Toasted Bread

This is a very traditional Italian dish that is very simple to make homemade. It makes a great snack and goes great as a side dish for soups!

Yogurt Bread:

    •    1 cup white bread
    •    1 cup wheat bread
    •    1 cup plain yogurt
    •    1/2 tsp baking soda
    •    1/2 tsp baking bowder
    •    1/4 tsp salt

Bruschetta:

    •    3 small tomatoes
    •    a few fresh basil leaves or arugula
    •    1/2 tsp salt, and pepper to taste
    •    dash of hing
    •    3 tbsp olive oil

First we are going to make the Yogurt Bread. In a small bowl add the yogurt, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Stir it up with a whisk making sure there are no lumps. Let it sit for 3 minutes.

Add both flours into a separate bowl and then add the wet ingredients. Stir it all up with your hand until you get a nice dough.

Now flour you baking dish.

Place the dough in the baking dish and cut a few lines on the top. Now bake in the oven for about 15 minutes at 232C/450F and then reduce to 200C/390F for another 10 minutes.

Now cut thin slices and lay out on a baking dish. Pour some olive oil and a little salt on each piece of bread. Then put in the oven and bake on medium high heat until the bread gets toasty.

Now time to make the Bruschetta. Gather all the ingredients:

3 small tomatoes
a few fresh basil leaves or arugula
1/2 tsp salt, and pepper to taste
dash of hing
3 tbsp olive oil

Chop up the tomatoes and basil or arugula. Then in a small mixing bowl add all the ingredients and stir together.

Now top the toasted bread with the tomato Bruschetta and you are ready to serve Kṛṣṇa!
